if Becoming President, Prabowo Promises Partnering with Disabled People

TabloidNasional. Sixty persons with disabilities were present at the home of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, December 4, 2018. Their arrival was aimed at being in harmony with Prabowo on the occasion of the International Day of Disability.

According to Deputy Secretary General of the Gerindra Party. Sudaryono, the relationship between persons with disabilities and Prabowo is ongoing. Persons with disabilities are given the opportunity to express their aspirations and questions about what policies Prabowo will take if he becomes president.

"Because Mr. Prabowo is the presidential candidate, he is asked about what will be taken; what policies will be taken will be able to improve the quality of life of colleagues with disabilities," said Sudaryono.

The Chairperson of the Indonesian Disability Community, Eka Setiawan, said that she had talked to Prabowo a lot. One of the questions he asked was what steps would be taken by Prabowo to implement Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Disability.

"He (Prabowo) replied I would invite disability to implement it (Law Number 8 of 2016). It means that when he later becomes president, persons with disabilities will be invited to partner to jointly develop the country," he said.

According to Eka, Prabowo will invite disabled people or persons with disabilities to go hand in hand to advance the nation. For the sake of this, enthusiasm is needed from the disabled.

"That is what he promised us. So if people with disabilities are in the spirit of cooperation with him, then what our disability friends expect for the implementation of the Law on Disability, will definitely come true," he said.
